Keto chocolate avocado mousse

It doesn’t happen so often to find a dessert that really ticks all the boxes. Unless you go for fat bombs, usually, raw desserts or those with a higher amount of nutrients have long preparations or require special tools (like a dehydrator) or they are not really satisfying. On the other hand, many common desserts lack in nutrients and they have a high content of sugar. This keto chocolate avocado mousse is a great choice for anyone who is looking for a raw treat that takes just a few minutes to make and has a really short list of ingredients. For this recipe you’ll need only 7 ingredients:

  • good-quality cocoa powder
  • a couple of ripe avocadoes
  • a few tablespoons of cream cheese
  • some almond drink (or any other dairy-free drink of choice)
  • a keto-friendly sweetener
  • a pinch of salt
  • some water

The only kitchen tool you need to make this keto chocolate avocado mousse is a blender (or a food processor). Unfortunately, it’s really difficult to get a proper smooth consistency without a blender. If you currently don’t have one, don’t worry, there are many other tasty keto desserts you could try like snack bars or brownies.

The consistency of this mousse will definitely surprise you: its silky texture will immediately remind you of a classic cooked chocolate mousse… but it’s way easier to make so, even if you are a newbie in the kitchen, you won’t have any issues with this recipe!

Tips and tricks about this keto chocolate avocado mousse

  • The avocadoes should be ripe: don’t try to make this mousse with unripe avocadoes thinking that their consistency will change completely once they go into the blender. To get a smooth chocolate mousse, you need ripe avocadoes.
  • The secrets to get a tasty keto chocolate mousse using this recipe are ripe avocadoes and some good-quality cocoa powder. If you prefer, you can use raw cacao powder (it also comes with extra nutrients… always useful!).
  • To make this recipe vegan, you can swap the cream cheese for a dairy-free alternative: look for something with a rich finish but without a strong taste. It should pair well with the other ingredients (coconut cream can be a good option).
  • Keep this mousse plain if you prefer to have a strong flavour of chocolate or add some vanilla extract (approx. 1 teaspoon) or a bit of coffee (approx. 2 tablespoons of espresso coffee). They are both great options.
  • The cream cheese frosting on top is optional but it makes a really great pair with the rich finish of this keto chocolate mousse.
