Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced about 150g
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed and halved
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and ground beef to the skillet. Cook the beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Season the beef mixture with smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine the spices with the beef.
  • Add the trimmed green beans to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes, just until they start to soften.
  • Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine all the ingredients, making sure to scrape any bits off the bottom of the skillet.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the green beans are cooked to your desired tenderness.
  • Remove the lid and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the beef and bean mixture. Let the cheese melt for a couple of minutes.
  • Serve hot directly from the skillet.

Notes

Feel free to top with additional herbs like chopped parsley or cilantro for a fresh flavor twist.
For a cheese variety, try using Monterey Jack or mozzarella instead of cheddar.
If you're looking to add a bit of heat, a pinch of red pepper flakes will do the trick.
Ensure to drain excess fat from the skillet after browning the beef, if desired.
