Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 can tuna in water (5 oz / 140 g), drained
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup diced celery
  • 2 tbsp diced red onion (30 g)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (60 g)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Start by slicing the avocados in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the pit and scoop out a small amount of the flesh from the center to create a larger cavity for the filling. Set the scooped avocado aside in a bowl.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, diced celery, diced red onion, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mash the reserved avocado flesh with a fork and mix it into the tuna mixture until well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spoon the tuna mixture generously into the hollowed-out avocado halves, mounding it slightly on top.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the stuffed avocados.
  • Place the stuffed avocados on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Stuffed Avocado Tuna Melt Boats!

Notes

Feel free to customize the filling by adding ingredients like chopped pickles, olives, or spices to suit your taste. These avocado boats can be served warm or at room temperature, making them a versatile dish for any occasion.
