Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped
  • 1 medium avocado, sliced
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 large lettuce leaves (to use as buns)
  • Optional toppings: sliced red onion, tomato, pickles

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chipotle peppers, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal parts and form each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.
  • Brush each patty lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking to the grill.
  • Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the juices run clear.
  • In the last couple of minutes of cooking, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of each burger to melt.
  • While the burgers are cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves, avocado slices, and any other desired toppings.
  • Once cooked, let the burgers rest for a few minutes before assembling.
  • Spread mayonnaise on each lettuce leaf, add the cooked burger, top with avocado slices, and any additional toppings you've chosen.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your spicy, smoky, and utterly delicious keto-friendly chicken burgers.

Notes

Adjust the amount of chipotle peppers to suit your preferred spice level.
These burgers can also be cooked on a stovetop in a non-stick frying pan if a grill is not available.
For a complete meal, serve with a side of mixed greens or keto-friendly vegetables.
