Equipment

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Spoon or spatula for mixing
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Clean surface for assembling tacos

Ingredients

Tuna Filling

  • 2 cans tuna in water 12 oz or 340g, drained
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise 60 ml
  • 1 tbsp sriracha sauce 15 ml
  • 1 tsp soy sauce gluten-free if necessary, 5 ml
  • ½ avocado diced, 100g
  • ¼ cup red onion finely chopped, 40g
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped, 4g

Seaweed Shells

  • 8 large seaweed sheets (nori)

Toppings (optional)

  • ¼ cup shredded cabbage 35g
  • jalapeño thinly sliced
  • lime wedges for squeezing
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Begin by preparing your tuna filling. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, and soy sauce. Stir until the ingredients are well mixed and the tuna is coated evenly.
  • Add the diced avocado, chopped red onion, and fresh cilantro to the tuna mixture. Gently fold these ingredients into the tuna to distribute them throughout without smashing the avocado pieces.
  • Lay a seaweed sheet flat on a clean surface. Place an even amount of the spicy tuna mixture onto one end of the seaweed sheet.
  • If desired, add your additional toppings such as shredded cabbage and jalapeño slices on top of the tuna mixture.
  • Carefully roll the seaweed sheet around the filling, starting from the end with the tuna, to form a taco shell shape. The moisture from the filling will help seal the seaweed. Repeat with the remaining seaweed sheets and filling.
  • Serve immediately with lime wedges for squeezing and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for garnish.

Notes

For those who prefer less heat, reduce the amount of sriracha sauce or replace it with a milder hot sauce.
Ensure your soy sauce is gluten-free if you are adhering to a gluten-free keto diet.
The seaweed shells are best enjoyed immediately after assembly to maintain their crispness.
If you're preparing this for a party, you can make the tuna filling ahead of time and refrigerate it, then assemble the tacos just before serving.
