Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Chef’s knife
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium avocados, diced approximately 200 g each
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced about 70 g
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved about 150 g
  • 4 cups mixed salad greens about 120 g
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped 4 g
  • 1 lime, juice of approximately 2 tablespoons, or 30 ml

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef: Season the thinly sliced beef sirloin with salt, pepper, chili flakes, garlic powder, and ground cumin. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Cook the Beef: Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside to rest.
  • Assemble the Salad: In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, red onion slices, cherry tomato halves, and diced avocado.
  • Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Toss the Salad: Pour the dressing over the salad mixture and toss gently to combine. Ensure the vegetables are well coated with the dressing.
  • Serve: Divide the salad mixture among four plates. Top each with an equal portion of the cooked spicy beef. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  • Enjoy: Serve immediately while the beef is still warm.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce the chili flakes or omit them altogether.
If you prefer your beef to be less spicy, you can marinate it in a mixture of olive oil, lime juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper instead.
Feel free to add other keto-friendly vegetables to the salad like cucumber or bell peppers for extra crunch and flavor.
