2sirloin steaks (approximately 1 inch thick), around 8 ounces (227g) each
1tablespoonolive oil15ml
2teaspoonssea salt10g
1teaspoonground black pepper5g
1teaspoongarlic powder5g
2tablespoonsunsalted butter30g
Fresh thyme or rosemary sprigsoptional
Instructions
Remove the sirloin steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.
Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
While the grill or skillet is heating up, pat the steaks dry with paper towels to ensure a perfect sear.
Rub each steak with olive oil, then season both sides generously with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Place the steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until they reach your preferred level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for the correct internal temperature: 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.
In the last minute of cooking, add the butter to the pan along with thyme or rosemary if using. Baste the steaks with the melted butter to add flavor and richness.
Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the grill or skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes. Resting allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy steak.
Slice against the grain and serve immediately.
Notes
Cooking times can vary depending on the thickness of the steak and the desired level of doneness. Adjust as necessary.Always slice steak against the grain to ensure tenderness. For added flavor, feel free to include additional spices or a keto-friendly steak rub.
