  • 1 tablespoon olive oil 15ml
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt 10g
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 5g
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder 5g
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 30g
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs optional

Instructions

  • Remove the sirloin steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.
  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • While the grill or skillet is heating up, pat the steaks dry with paper towels to ensure a perfect sear.
  • Rub each steak with olive oil, then season both sides generously with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Place the steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until they reach your preferred level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for the correct internal temperature: 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.
  • In the last minute of cooking, add the butter to the pan along with thyme or rosemary if using. Baste the steaks with the melted butter to add flavor and richness.
  • Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the grill or skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes. Resting allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy steak.
  • Slice against the grain and serve immediately.
