Equipment

  • Freezer
  • Shallow bowls
  • Frying pan
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks 224g
  • 1 cup almond flour 96g
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese 22g
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning 3g
  • ½ tsp garlic powder 1.5g
  • ½ tsp onion powder 1.5g
  • ¼ tsp salt 1.5g
  • ¼ tsp black pepper 0.5g
  • 2 large eggs 100g
  • 1 cup coconut oil for frying 216g

Instructions

  • Begin by cutting the mozzarella sticks in half, creating 16 shorter sticks. Freeze them for at least 1 hour or until completely solid.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix together the almond flour, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
  • Dip each frozen mozzarella stick into the egg wash, then roll it in the almond flour mixture until fully coated. Repeat this step for a double coating if desired for extra crispiness.
  • Heat the coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat. The oil is ready when it sizzles upon adding a pinch of almond flour.
  • Fry the coated mozzarella sticks in batches, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown on all sides, about 2 minutes per side.
  • Remove the sticks from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Serve the Keto Mozzarella Sticks hot with a side of sugar-free marinara sauce or your favorite keto-friendly dipping sauce.

Notes

Freezing the cheese sticks is crucial for preventing them from melting too quickly when frying.
Adjust the seasoning to suit your taste preferences.
For an air fryer version, preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and cook for 6 minutes, or until golden brown.
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven or air fryer for best results.
