Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Oven-safe skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 4 fillets salmon 6 ounces each or 170 grams
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened (227 grams)
  • ¼ cup fresh dill chopped (4 tablespoons or 15 grams)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (5 grams)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (2.5 grams)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (1.25 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, minced garlic, lemon zest, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Make a deep cut lengthwise into the side of each fillet to create a pocket for the stuffing, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  • Stuff each salmon fillet with the cream cheese mixture, distributing it evenly among the fillets.
  • Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the salmon fillets for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they develop a golden crust.
  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure your salmon is at room temperature before stuffing and cooking to ensure even cooking.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 2 days.
Feel free to customize the filling by adding chopped spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, or capers for an extra flavor twist.
