Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, chopped (about 180g)
  • 1 cup diced ham (150g)
  • ½ medium onion, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup/75g)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream (240 ml)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (113g)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (1.5g)
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (0.5g)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Non-stick cooking spray for greasing

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9-inch pie dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until they are tender yet crisp.
  • Spread the sautéed broccoli and onions evenly in the bottom of the greased pie dish.
  • Sprinkle the diced ham over the broccoli.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese into the egg mixture.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the broccoli and ham in the pie dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and let the quiche rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

To store, cover the quiche with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
For a dairy-free option, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and omit the cheese.
